Education and Skills Alliance
The Education and Skills Alliance brings together representation from all twelve local North East authorities, the two Local Enterprise Partnerships (NELEP and TVU), Schools North East, Further Education, the Teaching Schools Alliance and OFSTED.
Chaired by Mayor Norma Redfearn, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside Council it was formed in 2014.
The Alliance has agreed to explore some of the key issues affecting young peoples’ education and skills attainment and aspirations across the North East. This is with a view to providing some much needed co-ordination and support for the development of Great North Futures - Education and Skills Challenge, to ensure the best support possible for young people in their education and skills development.
The North East has the highest number young people not in employment, education or training and a number of challenges that need to be addressed to ensure we have the jobs available for our young people and that, in turn, they have the skills to take advantage of employment opportunities.
