Draft East Coast Main Line Route Utilisation Strategy (ECML RUS) – September 2007
The ECML RUS consultation sets out the relevant background information on the East Coast Main Line and North East area, and outlines the issues that are currently faced on these routes and those that are predicted to arise over the next ten years. The RUS set out the identification of “gaps” between the availability of passenger and freight capacity, train performance, journey opportunities etc. and what has been demonstrated to be deliverable in the base case without interventions.
This is followed by the potential “options” being considered to address these gaps and the next steps that should be taken to develop these further.
