The Association represents all 12 strategic authorities in the North East. This encompasses the authorities of Northumberland, County Durham and those in Tyne and Wear and the Tees Valley. The Association seeks to reflect the diverse nature of the region, the different challenges which face its rural and urban areas, and the wide variety of its different communities.
